Maxis, Nokia expand collaboration for next-gen Connectivity

In Kuala Lumpur, Maxis Bhd and Nokia have joined forces to advance next-generation connectivity, aiming to bolster network security and reliability. Additionally, Maxis has enlisted Nokia as a strategic partner to develop a segment of its 5G Core ecosystem, addressing anticipated future connectivity requirements.

Maxis has announced its collaboration with Nokia to explore the integration of advanced technologies aimed at reinforcing Maxis’ networks, thereby enhancing security and reliability. The partnership includes the exploration of quantum-safe optical networking solutions designed to defend against threats from both conventional and quantum computers. Furthermore, the companies will jointly investigate innovations to facilitate efficient and scalable connectivity across cloud environments, bolstering network security and benefiting enterprise clients. These initiatives align with the increasing demand for network infrastructure capable of supporting robust interconnectivity and seamless cross-border data exchange, supported by secure optical data centers.

The formalization of this collaboration occurred during a memorandum of understanding (MOU) ceremony at the Malaysia Pavilion of the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, with Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil in attendance, alongside Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din.

Maxis has recently engaged Nokia as a strategic partner to develop a segment of its 5G Core ecosystem, with a focus on utilizing cloud-native solutions to fully exploit 5G capabilities, thereby offering enhanced functionality, reliability, and efficiency to drive next-generation 5G services.
